Merino Homes

Residential Decoration

International School of Colour + Design    2019

Prof: Lisa Koehler

This project is a residential decoration solution for Merino Homes, which is a company that specializes in unique custom-designed houses.

The requirements for the brief were to design 3 concepts for the different clients with specific budgets.

We have to work with the existing structure and defined spatial arrangements that included floor finishes, furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, wall, and window treatments for the  Master Bedroom, Studio and Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen.

MODERN ART DECO

The couple is a semi-retired couple from England and NY in their 50s. They want that their bedroom is a timeless, elegant, classy, cozy, and modern space. Both love design, especially the art deco as it reminds them of their hometowns.

RAW SOPHISTICATED

The Client is a freelance landscape photographer from Norway in his 30s, he is super active, adventurous, and loves doing things outdoors. He loves hiking and riding his motorbike to find the perfect spots for his photography.

The studio/office will be used mostly during the day in the week, he will need a  place to put his photography equipment, a desk for his computer, to modify his photography as well as another table and tv where he can show his clients this photography.

He wants a contemplative space with a masculine look and organic and raw materials.

NATURAL MINIMALISM

The family Saito is a Japanese family who moved to the suburb of Greenwich because they love being close to nature and they are involved in bush regeneration. The owners are an honest, friendly family formed by  2 kids, 8 and 10 years old, a couple who share responsibilities and have their own store which sells natural products.

The mood for this residence is a relaxing, casual house that brings simplicity and naturalness to the interior, creating a harmony between the interior and exterior.

The space color palette is inspired by the Eucalyptus, a native Australian tree. It is important the use natural products as well as using recyclable materials for the family.
